The short version. The criteria, scores and notes you create in On the Range stay in your browser. We never receive them, and we never see which listings you view. The only information that reaches our server is what licensing needs: your license code, a random ID for your browser install, the browser's name, and, only if you buy a license or ask us to re-send your code, your email address.
On the Range (the “Extension”) is a browser extension for Chrome, Brave and other Chromium-based browsers. It is made by Hither Labs, LLC, Tulsa, Oklahoma (“Hither Labs,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what information the Extension and this website handle, why, and what choices you have.
1. Information that stays on your device
The Extension stores the following in your browser using chrome.storage.local, on your browser profile only:
- Your scoring criteria and the options and values you set for them.
- Your ratings, notes, and the address, title and link of each home you score.
- Your license state (whether a license is active, and the number of extra homes it unlocks).
This information is not sent to us or to anyone else, and it does not sync between devices. The Extension reads the pages of Redfin, Zillow and Realtor.com that you open so it can show its panel and badges. It does this locally in your browser. Page content is never transmitted. If you uninstall the Extension or clear its data, this information is deleted from your device. Use the Export feature to keep a backup.
2. Information we receive
The Extension contacts our license server only when it activates a license, re-checks a license (about once a day), or when you choose “Email me my code.” The server is hosted on Supabase.

We do not receive or store your payment card details. They are handled entirely by Stripe.
We do not receive your criteria, scores, notes, the listings you view, your browsing history, or any content of the pages you visit.
3. How we use information
- To issue, validate and recover licenses.
- To email your license code and purchase confirmation.
- To prevent abuse and enforce the per-license browser limit.
- To provide support and handle refunds.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising or profiling. We do not transfer it to third parties except the service providers listed below, as needed to run the service, or as required by law. We do not use or transfer it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
4. Service providers
We use these providers to operate the license system. Each processes data on our behalf and under its own privacy policy:
- Stripe processes payments and collects the email address and payment details at checkout.
- Supabase hosts our license database and license server functions.
- Resend delivers the emails we send you (your license code and purchase confirmation).
These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Standard server logs kept by our hosting providers may briefly record technical request details such as IP address and timestamp. We do not use these logs to identify you or track your browsing.
5. Retention
We keep license records (your email address, license, purchase records and browser activations) for as long as your license exists and as needed for support, refunds, and tax and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete them at any time (see Section 7). Deleting your license record means we can no longer verify or recover that license.
6. Security
Communication between the Extension and our server uses HTTPS. License codes are stored only as hashes, and our database is not directly accessible from the Extension or the internet. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit the data we collect so there is little to expose.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access, correction, deletion. Email us at the address below to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.
- Local data. You control the data in your browser. Use Export to back it up, and uninstall the Extension or clear its storage to remove it.
- Marketing. We do not send marketing email. We email you only about your license and purchases.
8. This website
This website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google may receive your IP address and browser details when you visit. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies on this website.
9. Children
The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If a change materially affects the information we collect, we will say so in the Extension's store listing or on this page before it takes effect.
